Cookies Without Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Eggs, and Milk Offered
Friday September 23, 2005
A neighbor of mind has discovered (the hard way) that her young daughter is allergic to peanuts. Her older child is not. This means changing the way she shops and cooks for the family, but her bigger concern is communicating with those who may not understand food allergy issues with children.
Another friend of mine has a child who is allergic to eggs, milk AND peanuts, and so her dietary restrictions cause particular concern. Last week, she fretted that her daughter was left out of a recent cookie exchange at her pre-school because of these restrictions. So, I'm passing on a new business that offers cookies and other items made without peanuts, tree nuts, eggs and milk. While I have not personally tasted the items and am not endorsing the products, I liked the message on its website: "Made to Share." If you're interested, check out Divvies. The site also includes facts and personal testimonies about food allergies.
