Check Your Childcare's License

By Robin McClure, About.com

A license in itself does not ensure that a child care facility or provider is good, but not having up-to-date credentials is a strong sign you should consider somewhere or someone else. Since most states require licensing, centers that do not have them are not fulfilling the most basic of childcare credentials. You can find out whether the center you are considering has proper licensures by contacting your local social services department.
