Quality, as well as quality, of kid lunches should be considered

From Robin McClure, About.com Guide   September 4, 2009

Most parents now "get it" when it comes to packing kid lunches that have nutritional value and are not just filled with junk.  Many primary school teachers report that they are seeing more nutritional drinks, fruits and vegetables included in a lunch than in years' past.  But a new problem is arising.  Parents are so often worried about their kids eating lunch that they overpack--offering too many choices and including too much of a good thing--or even desserts.  The result is one of two things:  either kids don't eat it all resulting in a lot of wasted food or kids consume way too many calories (such as eating everything in a convenience pack actually designed at two services rather than one).   It's a balancing act, folks, and with three kids in school, continues to be one I grapple with every day!
