Feeling angry over the Kate and Jon separation

Tuesday June 23, 2009
I'm not a reality TV watcher, but couldn't help feeling sad and even a little angry over the news that Jon and Kate Gosselin are separating. Why should I feel that way when I don't know them and have never watched TLC's show John and Kate Plus 8? It's because I can't stop thinking, "poor kids!", and wondering why they couldn't have tried a little harder to just work things out.

Regardless of whether you're a celebrity couple or just a family scraping to get by, divorce certainly takes its toll on children of divorce--financially as well as emotionally. There's all sorts of new factors to consider, such as who lives where and who gets whom and when. Child care is a huge consideration as well, especially since Kate is now describing herself as a working mom. Even if they get the details worked out, I have this bit of advice: find a good backup childcare plan . Kate and Jon, you're going to need it!
