Resale Shops Okay To Sell Used Children's Toys, Equipment

Thursday January 8, 2009
Frugal parents and child care providers will still be able to rely on buying used child-related equipment, toys and clothing from resale shops. A new law that goes into effect on Feb. 10 had seemingly required testing of products and clothing for children under age 12, effectively putting many resale shop owners out of business. But the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Jan. 8 clarified that the law exempts stores and other resellers from testing procedures but will require manufacturers and importers to certify that products don't violate new lead limits.
