Can You Afford Not to Have Quality Child Care?

Wednesday January 7, 2009
An acquaintance of mine recently pulled her 8-year-old out of after-school care, citing that he "was old and responsible enough" to walk home and stay there until she got off work at 5 p.m. She asked if I agreed. Personally, no way! But, I know that today's tough times are putting a squeeze on family budgets and organized child care is often among the first to go until conditions improve. (1) Spica Cast says:

Finding day care at affordable prices is extremely tough! It is never cheap, but can be near impossible if you have a child that requires special types of treatment. For example, our daughter, Natalie, spent about 3 months in a hip spica cast. No one would have the time necessary to really care for her as she needed. My wife stayed home to take care of her.
