When Friends of Kids Come Over to Play...and Stay

From Robin McClure, About.com GuideDecember 27, 2006

My three kids are thoroughly enjoying their winter break, and for the most part, are spending all their time with friends at our home! Admittedly, I typically love being the "chosen house" and having the whirl of my kid's friends inside (and outside) of our home. I know who they are with, what they're doing (mostly) and even what's on their minds and what they're talking about. What I don't enjoy, however, is the extra cost and the extra duties of maid and cook. Now that my oldest son's friends have expanded to include friends who are both boys and girls, and hormones are in gear (he is 15), I feel I have to be more on guard than ever. But the benefits far outweigh a loss of some "chill time!"
