Head Lice: It's Nit-Picking Time!
Friday September 15, 2006
"Ewww" is the first reaction from most adults when they learn their kids are infested with the tiny, wingless insects of head lice...and the dreaded eggs (nits) to boot. (Have you read the funny comic strip Baby Blues that has recently addressed this very thing?) Care providers and school nurses alike report that resuming back to school or daycare and fall activities often brings with it the added threat of lice. In fact, September has been designated Head Lice Prevention Month. Just remember that getting head lice has nothing to do with hygiene and is most often easily eliminated. Here are some facts about head lice and tips to treat them.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that would help me solve a problem we have. Our 1 & 2 year old children hang their coats in the hallway – next to each other on hangers. We were trying to come up with an idea of how we could protect these coats from the possible spreading of lice. We thought about having individual bags for each hanger, but that also poses a possible suffocation hazard. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
