Parent Involvement Wanted: How To Volunteer At Your Kid's School/Daycare

Sunday August 21, 2005
My youngest son's soccer commissioner called us this week to lament that there is no soccer coach for the team. He asked me if my husband or I were willing to coach the team or if we knew of anyone who would volunteer. Now, I'm a type who volunteers for about anything: I serve on two PTA boards, help in the classroom, take home work to return back to teachers, and give services at two different school districts. But soccer? I've never played and neither has my husband, so we certainly aren't qualified to coach in this instance. But, surely, there is someone out there who will or my son won't get to play. Parent volunteers are desperately needed, and here are some easy ways to volunteer at your kid's daycare/school/youth group in whatever capacity you can give. The point? PLEASE HELP in any way you can!
