Child Care Options: Last Minute Call Doesn’t Have to Mean Day Care Disaster
Thursday August 18, 2005
I'm amazed how my kids--ever the picture of health and well-being all summer long--develop an ailment of some type RIGHT at the start of school each year. No, I don't think it's "school-itis" or a fictional ailment or a fake to keep mom at home; rather, I think it's Murphy's Law. This year, my oldest son asked me to look at the bottom of his foot just before he walked out the door to meet the schoolbus, and lo and behold, he had a plantar's wart.
So, what does all this mean? To me, it means the best-laid plans of school, child care, carpool, and work (not in that order necessarily) don't always go according to plan. And that can be the same for a child's day care provider, who can develop illnesses or family emergencies just the same. But, it doesn't have to mean disaster--with a little foresight and a lot of planning. Here are some child care options to keep in mind when you get that frantic childcare call as you're headed out to an ever-so-critical meeting.
