Bike Safety: There's More To Safe Pedaling Than Just Wearing A Helmet

This week, a near-tragedy in my community involving a young bicyclist and motorist was avoided, mostly due to the child's wearing of a bike safety helmet. The young girl's inexperience in controlling her bike and speed down a hill resulted in her hitting a car. She is recovering nicely, but the incident served as a wake-up call as to the importance of bike safety AND of the wearing of bike safety helmets. Here are bike safety tips parents should consider before their kids pedal out of their sight.
