What A Brush Off! Shunning Affection Is A Normal Stage In Children Around Six

My daughter this week deflected my hug and scampered off happily to an activity--seemingly oblivious whether I was joining her. The brush off wasn't meant to hurt my feelings, but I'm noticing more and more her growing independence. She is 6 years old, the exact age experts say many children start giving the cold shoulder. Here are some tips for parents to stay close to their kids when the normal behavior of getting ignored begins.
